Oosterschelde

Due to its unique wealth of plants and animals, the Oosterschelde has been declared a National Park. Due to the influence of the tides, the Oosterschelde presents a dynamic and ever-changing landscape filled with sand bars that fall dry during low tide and old fishing harbours which are also subject to high and low tides. The multitude of harbours ensures that there is always something interesting going on alongside the Oosterschelde. Towns and villages such as Zierikzee, Stavenisse and Sint Annaland attract a great many visitors as, of course, does the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier at Neeltje Jans.
